Welcome to the new Settings Beta! The new Settings page offers the same great functionality in the legacy UI with some new items that unlock powerful capabilities such as HTTP OAuth 2.0, Event Driven Ansible, and improved navigation. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us so please feel to chime in. What’s changed in Settings v4? Improved Navigation The first thing you might notice after enabling the settings preview is that it has a familiar structure in the left-hand navigation with an updated feel. The improved settings navigation comes with functionality to: collapse/expand core features in the navigation list along with filtering and sorting across the different settings areas. Audit Logs A couple of noteworthy mentions in Audit Logs is a more readable table structure with an easier to use Filter. You’ll notice that you can see much more information in the description with an arrow to expand more details at the end of the description. Account Information Account Information has three main paths: Portal Information, Portal Settings, and Financial. You’ll notice when you want to edit information that the controls will look different such as a pencil and when adding contacts information you don’t need to save each row. Contacts (previous UI) was renamed to Portal Information which more accurately describes its content. Portal Settings now contains contact information Financial has the same billing and payment information as before but with an easier to read structure with the familiar edit controls. Usage (Beta) This is an exciting new capability that lets you visualize LM license usage. Right now LM Logs and APM Metrics are supported if you’re using those products today. LM Logs - you’ll notice a “Products” dropdown that lets you select the product you want to view data for. At a glance, you’ll see month-to-date usage, can select some top usage analysis queries, and view cumulative usage. All of this data is filtered by the month and has control. One cool thing about the cumulative usage graph is that it has some forecasting ability which can be helpful for spotting potential overages. APM Metrics contains a combined view along with APM Push Metrics and APM OpenMetics. All views have the same visuals, controls, and functionality as the LM Logs product More products coming to Usage in future releases! Alert Settings Alert Settings should feel very consistent with improved readability. You’ll notice filtering capability added to Root Cause Analysis and External Alerting. Collectors Collectors page has a familiar table layout and controls to other pages in Setting creating a theme of consistency. Under the collector tab you have a new ability to filter by all collectors or collector groups. Within the table you have the ability to view if an escalation chain is configured in the table. If an escalation chain is found it will send the name. The collector actions for each collector are now in the a new bottom panel, with the info, resources, SDT and websites tabs The collector bulk actions can be performed now by selecting collectors (checking the boxes) and applying the bulk action from the menu when it shows up. (In UIV3, there was a button called actions present all the time) In the legacy UI, manage flows were hidden under the support button in the manage form, now these are accessible from the collectors main page bottom panel. The previous add flow had at least four modals, we have now reduced it to single modal for confirmation on save. The collector status screen was a blob of data on a single page earlier, now this information has been organized into a table that can be filtered and in a more readable format. The collector updates tab now shows a table with an update type column that helps users see what status the updates are in, (very similar to the SDT tab in alerts), showing the active/ scheduled NetScans. OpenTelemetry Collectors OpenTelemtry was introduced in the legacy Settings page allowing you to consume your application traces. Integrations We’re very excited to announce Event Driven Ansible and OAuth2.0 for Custom HTTP in the new Settings. Event Driven Ansible allows you to unlock the power of alerts and take remediation actions based on an alert. You’ll notice that the Integrations page has a familiar structure to the legacy UI with filters and tabs. All the controls for the table were moved to the left side column called “Actions” OpsNotes OpsNotes carries over the same structure from the legacy UI with updated filtering controls to help you find what you’re looking for with ease. LogicModules Updates to the LogicModules settings coming in a future release. Message Templates Message Templates introduces a new left hand navigation that allows you to filter by alert type. When an Alert Type is selected you’re able to define the alert and clear message with fewer clicks through the gear icon. NetScans NetScans page has a familiar table layout and controls to other pages in Settings, creating a theme of consistency. Under the collector tab you have a new ability to filter by all collectors or collector groups. NetScans no longer opens up with a blank right panel, it shows all the NetScans so the user has the option to view information by clicking the manage icon. User Access User Access has a new left hand navigation that contains some filtering options to help you find what you’re looking for. You can filter by groups and by users with the updated UI controls.400Views22likes26CommentsDatapoint Analysis now available!
Hi all! We have a new feature that’s available to anyone participating in the new UI beta and has access to our LM Intelligence features. Datapoint Analysis (also known as Metric Correlation) pulls in relevant datapoints that will show users additional related datapoints. You can access the feature from either the Alerts page or the Alerts tab on the new Resources page by going to the Alert Overview tab and clicking on the new “Datapoint Analysis” button. On the Datapoint Analysis page, there is a summary modal that shows the correlated datapoints, instances, and resources. The analysis for the data is displayed in graphs that map to each of the following strategies used to determine the correlation score: Other datapoints on a selected instance The same datapoint on other instances within the same resource The same datapoint on other resources that share the same collector ID Test it out and share if this is something that assisted in your troubleshooting journey! We would also love to hear any improvement ideas you have that would make the information more helpful.688Views21likes6CommentsReports UIv4 now available!
Reports UIV4 can now be toggled on at the top of the Reports screen. Check out some of the new features including: a revamped reports tree navigation new reports listing overview with search easy report action access This is a per user setting. You can also easily toggle between UIv3 and UIv4 to see what’s changed. The Reports support doc has a more in depth view of what’s now available. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new UI and know more about how we can improve!455Views20likes11CommentsCurrent list of Resources UIv4 Bugs
Hi all, As suggested, here is a list of all of the feedback we have seen in this group and their current status. I can’t expose ticket IDs, but if there is a question about a particular item, please ask within this thread. This is a manual process and will be updated manually when there are updates so there may be some delays - until we have a more automated process. Summary of Issue Status Version Fixed Additional Comments General feedback around "look & feel items" - includes feedback around colors, icons, text, etc. Backlog We are currently focusing on functionality bug fixes but are aware of feedback around the colors of the new UI. Favorites aren't carrying over from V3 to V4. Backlog This is a lower priority item as we found users don't have a ton of Favorites saved. When on the properties tab, values are right-aligned Fixed 197 There isn't a separate experience for "View all ops notes" and enabling ops notes in the graph view Backlog Accessing global definition now requires more clicks Fixed 196 There is now a puzzle piece icon that matches the exchange that allows users to access the global definition without opening up a menu There is no way to manually add in devices to a static resource group, unless the device is already in another group Fixed 196 The IP Address/DNS name is missing from the title bar for a device Fixed 199 Please note that this will be a part of the “Title bar” compared to where it was previously in UIv3, which was in the breadcrumbs. When you are typing in a string into a field that has auto-complete capabilities, the cursor jumps around Backlog We have found that this is a large effort that is requiring refactoring for our forms, so this is being handled in segments. This will be marked complete when all segments have been refactored. The sections are wrong in the Poll Now screen Backlog On the graphs page, when you hover over an item, the tooltip just has "Default" Fixed 198 When adding a new resource, there is a missing indicator for whether a collector is auto-balanced Fixed 196 Even when no changes are made, a "Are you sure?" modal pops up Fixed 197 Icons are inconsistently showing in the resource tree - it appears on hover at the parent level, even when the child items are shown Fixed 197 When trying to view configs in fullscreen, only a small panel was being opened. Fixed 186 When re-ordering columns on a table, the selection was not persisted Fixed 190 When doing a search, you can no longer double click on the result to open the item Fixed 195 When trying to use any Remote Session option, an error was being thrown Fixed 192 When looking at a stack graph, they were not showing in a "stacked" fashion Fixed 192 When interacting with graphs, the selectors (Hide on Click, Highlight On Click) were not working as expected Fixed 188 When trying to use the scroll bar on the main resource tree, the width wasn't wide enough to interact with Fixed 191 When interacting with the time range, the "default" option was missing Fixed 188 There were a couple of changes to time range: we added back the missing functionality and changed the location to the top of the page. When clicking on a single-instance datasource, you had to click again to go to the instance Fixed 189 We now auto-open to the instance for single-instance modules On the Info tab in the "Members Of" section, the full path was missing Fixed 188 When trying to expand a config, only a small number of lines were displaying Fixed 186 Recently deleted items were showing the wrong count Fixed 188 An "SDT" icon was incorrectly displaying in the resource tree when a device was not under an active SDT. Fixed 188 Users that had access to SDT an item did not see the icon. Fixed 185 The description was not showing as a tooltip when hovering over an item in the resource tree Fixed 191 When adding a new Instance, the instance group field was not being auto-populated Fixed 193 Alerts no longer show the duration in the row Fixed 194 The SDT icon is missing from items that don't also have an alert Fixed 193 The default tab changed for resources Fixed 192 We now default to graphs when on a device or datasource When trying to use the resource tree, you could only click on a small portion to select or expand a device Fixed 186 We included highlighting and the ability to select anywhere on the line When at a resource group level on the alert tuning tab, there is no indication of what instance a datapoint ties to Fixed 193 When trying to look at disabled datasources or unmonitored instances, it is no longer showing in a separate group in the resource tree In Dev When looking at the alerts tab, it no longer shows the total alert count Need more info The alert count is displayed in the Alerts tab in parenthesis. General slowness with the new UI Fixed 197 We made some improvements with release 197 - please submit additional tickets if you’re still experiencing slowness When looking at the alerts tuning tab, the description is truncated Researching We are in the process of changing the UX for the Alert Tuning tab. The magnifying glass (focus) icon is causing more issue than solving Researching We are in the process of discovery to see how we can improve the "focus" experience A user still sees the disable alerting option on a device, even when they don't have permissions to manage the device. Will Not Fix This was taken as feedback rather than a bug, since we still prevent the user from doing the action. Missing time indicator when there are multiple graphs Backlog The alert icons are incorrectly displaying when there isn't an active alert for an item Fixed 198 Time Format is not following user-defined format on the resources page (Custom Range selector) Backlog Users are not able to access the correct items in UIv4 Fixed 196 Cheers, Sarah172Views18likes7CommentsThanks LM for needlessly taking away simple functionality
Has anyone been clicking on the resource button in the left hand menu only to find that it’s not doing anything? Well, it actually is doing something, but not what you expect? Yep, that’s right, LM could find no better way to stuff in the resource explorer than to make the old resources button not actually do anything except pop up another menu item. Why did they decide to stuff this sub-menu where a button used to be? Now clicking the button doesn’t navigate anywhere. Why not just add another “page” to the menu bar? You already have a way of handling when there are too many items in that bar. I need the ability to turn that off for certain users. Where is the RBAC control? If you can’t give me RBAC, at least give me the ability to reorder the items in that bar. The menu pops out on mouseover. Which means that no matter when or how you click on the original button’s location, it won’t do anything. Which means, if you put an <a href> anchor around that button again pointing to the old one, you can solve this entire frustration. Man, i thought I’d give Uiv4 a try today. Guess i gotta give it another year.Solved481Views16likes21CommentsWinRM Collector and Non-admin scripts beta
Hello, and welcome to LogicMonitor’s Beta for WinRM non-admin automation! At Logicmonitor we are constantly pushing the envelope on security. In our endeavor to further reduce the attack surface of our customers we are proud to bring to you the beta program for monitoring windows devices using least privilege. This beta would also allow you to try out our WinRM based collector. Goal for the beta Validate and test windows monitoring with WinRM based collectors running with least privilege in your environment. We suggest the following operations to test out the non-admin automation 1. Set up a normal WMI based windows collector to monitor your windows devices. 2. Set up at least 10 the WinRM based beta collector by following the instructions in the support page. Ensure that the collectors are not running under admin privilege after completing the setup. 3. Move your devices from the WMI based collector to the beta collector to confirm that the WinRM beta collector fulfills your windows monitoring needs. 4. Test out WMI, Powershell and perfmon datasources Timeline The beta has started and will run Through Sept 30, 2023. Documentation Since the process to install a WinRM collector is slightly more tedious than a normal LM collector, we advise you to go through the documentation before setting it up. Documentation for the beta is available at https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/configuring-winrm-for-windows-collector and updated as questions come in, or as things are added/fixed. Note: The beta is available in EA collector 34.100 and later. All you have to do is follow the steps in the support documentation above to install the WinRM collector. Feedback You can submit your feedback via this link or post a comment here to chat directly with the product manager. You can also contact Logicmonitor support or you Customer Success Manager for further assistance.474Views13likes0CommentsIssue with threshold permissions in new UI
Starting with portal v207, there are some updates to the "Settings > Users and Roles" page of the new UI. These changes include a new permission for modifying group-level thresholds. This new permission can be found within the role configuration in section "Permissions > Modules > Access Groups > Resources: Group Threshold". This permission did not previously exist for roles before portal v207. When the portal upgrades to v207, any custom roles which previously had permissions to modify thresholds will no longer be able to do so. I confirmed with LM support that this is expected. This affects ALL threshold changes, not just group-level thresholds like the name of the permission suggests. So FYI for other LM admins out there, once you update to portal v207 you may need to manually update any roles which should have access to modify thresholds so that they include the permission I mentioned above.Solved168Views11likes2Comments
