The warning is legit but there is a clarification. :) I dont want to repeat the whole post. :) Re: How do access groups work? All options missing. Thankfully it looks like the reason that role lost access to edit thresholds is somewhat my fault, but the warning still stands. I added the Access Group to that Role specifically because I didnt want them to be able to edit Modules like they used to be able to, so I had unchecked the whole Default row except for view, not knowing that the "Resources: Group Threshold" was a new feature. So it was somewhat my own fault, and the good news is that other groups should be fine as long as you dont uncheck that .... but again, the warning stands because obviously, when you want to use Access Groups for a role, the reason you want to do it, is because you dont want them messing with official modules. But whatever you do, do NOT uncheck group threshold permissions from the default row. Because it OVERRIDES the manage and threshold settings on the Resource tab!! Re: How do access groups work? All options missing. I still have not found a solution to my problem but I did want to offer a warning. Normally, any role that has "Threshold" and "Manage" on a Resource Group can set a custom threshold on an instance. But for that role, if you dare to attach an Access Group to it, LogicMonitor for some weird reason ADDS A NEW REQUIREMENT! If you have any Access Group added to a role, for whatever reason, you all of a sudden have to have the checkbox set on the "Resources: Group Threshold" checkbox under the default Access Group. I'm not actually sure if this condition is added to the portal as a whole, or if it just messes up the role with an Access Role attached. I found this out because my group I'm trying to give access to, for Access Groups, suddenly couldnt change any instance thresholds AT ALL. And I had to dig around and find out. https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/threshold-management So proceed with extreme caution!! Re: How do access groups work? All options missing. To clarify item 2 above, me checking the"Modules: Manage (Limited)" box was done on the row, under the role I want to edit, for the new Access Group I made. Re: How do access groups work? All options missing. I guess I will open a support ticket, since this doesn't seem to be me missing something obvious, and nothing jumped out to the community. But I will make a comment of where I left off for clarity: I created an Access Group. The group itself has no features other than Name, Tenant, and Description. I left Tenant blank because I have no idea what it is. There are no permissions to edit here. On the role I want to enable granular access to modules, I went to the Modules permissions, went under the "My Modules Toolbox" section (below Access Groups) and checked the "Modules: Manage (Limited)" box, and saved the changes. NOTE: I believe this corresponds to your first link, the section "Configuring Modules Permissions" step 5 aka "To enable a user to have permissions for Access Groups within Modules". The only difference is that, in your documentation, this is happening during role creation. I'm editing an existing role. So I click Save instead of Finish. I opened up the Modules section of the portal (I can do anything on the portal), filtered for the specific module I wanted to grant access to, and selected it. On the overview shown on the bottom of the UI when I've selected the module, I only see the usual tabs: Info, AppliesTo, Active Discovery, Collection, Normal Datapoints, Complex Datapoints, Graphs, Local History. I see NO Access Groups tab. When I edit the module itself, again, I see NO Access Groups tab at all, and there is nothing on the page. NOTE: this corresponds to your second link, "Assigning an Access Group to a Module" and I believe it would be Step 3, "Select the Access Groups tab" ... but no such tab seems to exist. Anyway, I will open up a trouble ticket later this afternoon. I'm probably missing something. I just wanted to make the state clear. I'm sure I'm just missing something simple. Thanks. Re: How do access groups work? All options missing. I realize now that the link between the role and the access group isnt actually under settings -> access groups. I DID find my module on the next tab over, modules, and gave the group manage permissions. My bad. But I still cant find on the actual module itself how I can add it to the MY TEST access group. I dunno. I'll keep looking. Whoever designed UIv4 must thing completely different to me, maybe they like pineapple on their pizza or something. :) /justkidding How do access groups work? All options missing. I need to allow a role to edit local Custom logicmodules only. I had seen the Access Groups but never tried them. I made a new one, but after doing so, it does NOT show up under the Access Groups list of any roles. Nor do I have an "Access Groups" tab on My Module Toolbox. Screens below. 1) I made a new Access Group, but there are no permissions on the group itself, just a name. Whatever. 2) I then managed the role, in a new browser windows, and went to the settings and Access Groups settings for that role, but NOTHING shows up there, not even the default one. 3) I also went to the My Module Toolbox and edited a module, looking for a tab the documentation claims exists (no picture of course) for controlling Access Groups, also in a new browser, and again, I see nothing. And even when I edit the logicmodule there is nothing on the page about access groups. So I just dont get it. All I want to do is make a new Access Group on the portal (DONE), and then have that guy show up under the settings for a role, so I can give a role access to that guy only, and also edit one module and add my MY TEST .... but nothing. Nothing show up anywhere. Can someone explain? Thanks. I'm at my wits-end. Re: Online documentation for UIv4? To clarify the above, when I said "and it looks to me like the page is still for UIv3" ... I meant the documentation page. Also I did see the note at the top about the up to date content, the page admits its legacy, but if you follow the link, its just a list of report types. No explanations, no screenshots, nothing that breaks down, explains, or even displays the new UIv4 at all, not in the first 2 or 3 reports I looked at from that linked page. Online documentation for UIv4? Today I got a popup in the UI saying that UIv4 is about to be forced on us for reports, settings, collector settings, audit logs, and more, apparently by April 30. Which is in 2 days. Shame on me I guess for not looking at collector release notes I guess, since in the past I could trust them to not be functionally radical. No time in the day. Anyway I decided to start learning the UIv4 for reports first, since thats the one that will impact normal users the most, and it looks to me like the page is still for UIv3. Its a problem I have generally, that all these UIv4 changes are coming, but when I look at online documentation (searching for something like, logicmonitor reports documentation) its almost always UIv3. At least nothing looks like UIv4 in this reports link that came up. I tried linking the URL in this post but the Publish button worked so here is a screenshot of the official support page titled "Creating & Managing Reports": That image above is definitely UIv3. So I guess my question is, given that we are required to deal with this new UI, when will all the official support pages start showing UIv4 info? I'm going to have to re-learn everything, on a short notice apparently, and while I can hunt and peck in the new UI, I'm wondering if there are any official documentation replacement pages for UIv4 for the entirety of the portal? I probably disagree with LM on whether their new UI is intuitive or not, but there needs to be official documentation. And perhaps there is. I'm asking. :) Re: Occasional Bad Request with API to PATCH users The API calls were working all along, there was just something wacky in the user data that, as soon as I edited the user and saved it with no (VISIBLE IN THE UI) changes, the same script worked on them. So its kinda frustrating. :) But anyway, yes I always exclusively use v3 endpoints.
