IndexSearches monitoring on SQL Server 2014

Our LM platform has been plotting minor blips in the IndexSearching interface for quite some time. About a month ago it spiked and is now plotting a sporadic but upward moving trend line. Can someone comment on what this report is indicating.? IT leadership is showing a lot of concern over this upward trend - however some info on which SQL metric it's plotting would be useful. I.E. is it plotting actual index usage (in which case I'm not seeing why that's a bad thing and needs to be alerted by the software) or index scans or parallel processing scans etc...(?)
