Reports as body of email instead of attachment
Our CTO is asking me to provide a daily email report of some key metrics to our clients and internal stakeholders. I'm able to create a suitable report and email it, however his concern is the number of clicks to view the report. The belief is that the email will just go straight to trash if our clients can't see the report in the email body. For me, using gmail, I have to download the attachment first, then open it from my laptop. Two options we talked about were: 1. Use the HTML report as the body of the email rather than an attachment (surely the days of text-only email clients are gone) 2. A configurable/dynamic subject to provide some hint of what the report actually contains, e.g. the uptime for a particular service over the last 24 hours. If the subject said "100% Uptime", there is no reason to open the report, if the subject said "98% Uptime" I can open to see more detail. Does anyone else have any ideas on how to make reports a little more effective for a somewhat apathetic audience?14Views3likes7CommentsCSV exports with tabular data
Most often, when people export to a csv or excel format their intent is to receive table data in a tabular format because they're going to pivot it out, chart it, or conduct some sort of analytics/BI function. It would be nice if your csv exports didn't require manipulation of the data to remove erroneous data/whitespace for consumability as a table datasource. This is specifically a problem in Website Overview reports.10Views2likes1CommentRobust Inventory Report Type
We often get requests from our clients that say "Show me everything you're monitoring for me". I think it makes sense as a new standard report type, although i understand it will be extremely difficult for Logicmonitor to create. Nonetheless, Here would be my suggestion for this: In some ways, organized like the UI For each host, a list of all the datasources that apply Option to include the host properties in a table format. For each datasource that applies to the host: Name of Datasource List of instances/instance groups Datapoint List, with Thresholds Somehow show overridden thresholds this is the key, but also the challenge It may simply be too large of a task with too little support, but by posting it here, i hope that many people share this need, so that we can get it accepted for the roadmap.7Views1like0Comments
