Non-Administrator Users Unable To Manage Resource Threshold

Hello,

Can someone please help with a simple question.

How can I enable a user to manage Alert Thresholds at the resource level without granting them the Administrator Role?

We attempted to create a Role Group and selected the Manage option for a specific resource, but encountered a "Permission Denied" error.

Additionally, we tried configuring the Role Group by going to Settings > Alert Settings and checking all the boxes, but still received a "Permission Denied" error when attempting to save the threshold.

Getting error upon saving the threshold "Permission Denied". Any guidance on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ashish

  • Ok just to verify, you have effectively what is below setup?

    Resources Section
    * Customer A
    * Customer B
    * Customer C

    Roles Section
    * Engineers
    * Technicians
    * Admins

    Then for the specific role, lets say Technicians in this example, you are granting Manage to the role for the Customer B Resource folder? Then you are attempting to make an adjustment to an instance threshold to a device under the Customer B Resource folder?

    If that is the case, theoretically you are properly setup. Try using an incognito window in case some weird caching is happening.
    Other then Config Backups, LogicMonitor is in inclusive permission system so it should just work like that.

  • OK, first, the Settings / Alert Settings won't affect what you are trying to accomplish at all. That is purely to control the backend section of LogicMonitor for alert delivery.

    We grant a specific role the ability to adjust thresholds. Generally LogicMonitor is graceful with overlapping roles, but I would verify that the users impacted in question are not in more then 1 role.

    Also all things with LogicMonitor support, have you tried it in the new UI yet?

    Yes I realized that but did not want to bring it up I was 90% sure of it, but great you see it the same way.

    I create a a new Test User to play with, but still with resource level grant for Manage it did not work.

    That is something I did not test. Will test and post here.

    Thank you!
