Is there a way to make an empty escalation chain?

I have some alerts that I dont want to send anywhere, but I also do not want to disable the alerting on instances in the UI or at the folder level either. I have a wide variety of scenarios where alert tuning adjustments and alert disables cant be done. The use cases don't matter.

What I need is a way to have an escalation chain target that is "void" or "do nothing" or some dummy email address (outside our org, since the emails are coming from the LM cloud) that wont actually get the data.

Help?

  • Yes you can do that, just create an escalation chain with no stages defined and with the CC field blank. Then use alert rules to define your use cases where you don't want to route the alerts anywhere.

Logicmonitor wont let me save an Escalation chain without recipients or escalation chains.

I believe the default escalation chain originally had no recipients. I suspect you changed that as most do.

You can create an escalation chain with no recipients; you must add at least one stage with no recipients.

Note: I tested that you can create an escalation chain this way, but did not test functionality.
