Re: 'Instance not found' output manipulation
Hello @ldoodle , Unfortunately as of this moment it’s not possible to adjust the message displayed when the filters configured in a given widget do not match any instances in your portal. If you’d like the option to provide an alternate message, I’d suggest submitting feedback through your portal requesting the option, to be considered by our product managers for future development.

Re: Letting non-admin users make and manage their own dynamic groups
Unfortunately, this comes down to the functionality of Dynamic Groups themselves. The intention is to allow a user to control membership of a group using the Applies To language, and subsequently, grants a user the ability to includeanyresource within a portal. Because this naturally allows someone with permissions to manage Dynamic groups the capacity to access all resources, in order for customers to be able to effectively control user access, dynamic grouping is restricted to users with manage permissions for all resources. With that said, it may theoretically be possible to accommodate this with “view all” permissions as opposed to “manage all”. I’d suggest submitting feedback through your portal requesting additional access control options for dynamic groups.

Re: Is there a way to configure an Alert Rule to only match websites OR resources?
This can actually be accomplished using the LogicModule filter in your alert rules. All website related alerts are associated witha “website” LogicModule. Because of this, we can configure a rule to match only Website alerts by specifying “website” in the LogicModule filter, or vice versa, exclude website alerts with a negative pattern match “!website” in the filter.

Re: JDBC Driver not found Error
Investigating, Vertica has a dedicated JDBC driver to access their databases. You would need to install this driver on any client attempting to access the database, in this case the Collector host. They detail this driver further in their support pages.

Following up on @Patrick Rouse ’scomment, Once we’re pulling each VM instance’s tags into LogicMonitor, we could then create a simple DataSource that checks for the presence of the tag, and alerts when not present. Similarly, a Dynamic Group may be created that includes resources where a given tag isn’t set using a negative pattern match for the Applies To Query, such as !auto.vmware.vcenter.tag.Environment

Though this isn’t technically included in the Fall Launch, I’m curious as to when LogicMonitor intends to finally create parity between Websites and Resources and merge them under the same directory? As I understand it this has been on the horizon for some time, I’m curious if there are any formal plans at this point.

Glad to see this formally built out by LogicMonitor at this point, I know quite a few customers have had to implement custom solutions historically. I think having this functionality for both an EventSource and in LM Logs would be great. Now - when are we finally going to get formal support for ingesting Collector logs into LM Logs? I’d love to leverage anomalies with Collector log data.

Good morning @jfmhfa01 , As Mike mentioned, if we’re looking to monitor domain controllers without leveraging a Domain Administrator, we can install a Collector to each DC running as LocalSystem, which would only provide the Collector sufficient permissions to monitor the DC itself. For monitoring external servers in this scenario, wmi.pass and wmi.user properties pertaining to relevant credentials for the server would be need to be assigned to these resources, which will be used to authenticate instead of the LocalSystem account. https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/getting-started/advanced-logicmonitor-setup/credentials-for-accessing-remote-windows-computers

Hello @vorwaldhtlf , There could be a number of causes for the gaps in data - to narrow down on the issue, do you see “No Data” under the Raw Data tab for periods where there’s a gap in data? This would indicate the Collector is executing the polls, but not getting a response back. If you don’t see “No Data” under the Raw Data tab, this would suggest the Collector isn’t executing the polls as scheduled. In most cases it will be an issue of the former as opposed to the latter. You should be able to use “Poll Now” from the Raw Data tab during periods of no data to identify precisely what’s occurring, whether it’s a timeout or an error returned from the device. The Collector logs should also contain some additional insight as to what’s happening during the gaps in data, though you may need to increase the logging level for a clearer picture. Of course you can also open a support case with LogicMonitor to investigate the issue on your behalf, which may be useful in this case as there are several possible causes for the failure.
