Hierarchal relationship for users and roles
We would like to see more of hierarchal relationship for user and role set up. We are an MSP with several hundred customers. Each one of these customers have about 5 to 20 logins. Right now the user set up is just one long list of every different customer user login. We would like to be able to create a Customer/Company login group, which LM is currently referring to as a role, and then move to that group and create the users and their permissions. This would make it much easier to manage. This same thing could apply to companies that us LM directly. They could group Departments in this same way. We have a need to build interface utilization graphs in both BPS and Percentages. We are a Managed Service Provider and most of our customers want graphs in percentages instead of or in addition to the default LogicMonitor datasource graphs in BPS. So far I haven't found anything in the knowledge base telling how to do this. We are a network MSP. We have several customers with a large number of ping only devices. LMs terms don't charge per device for ping only. However, there's a caveat to that. The ping function for a device must be nested under another device such as a Collector. Apparently the billing system doesn't have the ability to distinguish between an SNMP/WMI device and a ping only device. The problem with nesting under another device is that ping device is hidden several layers down making it difficult for a customer to find them. These ping only devices don't work well with the NOC widget. I wound up having to create a second NOC widget for just ping only devices to get visibility. What I'm proposing is the LM modify their billing device detection such that Ping only devices are input just like any other device and that the billing system scans device to determine if it's Ping only or not55Views0likes3CommentsReturn to Dashboard
We would like to see a way to go back to a dashboard from a device.I have created a customer group for one customer. I have also created a dashboard for that customer with a NOC view widget. I can go toa specific device but I haven't found a way to get back to the dashboard directly from that device,except to Dashboards/Menu and reselect the dashboard. One solution would be to have the dashboard open a device view in a new window, leaving the dashboard open in the first window. New to this forum. We are trialing LogicMonitor as a replacement for a traditional NMS system. We're a resell of NMS service. I believe the industry calls that an MSP. We want to resell this service using an appliance as collector. Basically we want to preload the collector software and send it to a customer location and then go from there. What I'm struggling with is some guide to what hardware we should spec out for this. I realize a one size fits all is not going to get it. Our customers service is all WAN only routers and some customers have netflow. We have some customers that have 10 or 15 devices and some that have all the way up to 1000 to 1200 devices with every thing in between. The protocols used are SNMP, ICMP, Syslog, Netflow. So I'm thinking one type of hardware for 0 to 200 devices, another for 200 to 500 devices, and a third for 500 to 1200 devices. I figure anything above that is going to take more than one collector. I have found a industrial vendor that can supply boxes with every thing from Celeron to Xeon class CPUs and everything in between with 2g to 16g or more and SDD or HDD drives. The first question is does any one have any experience running collectors with Quad Core Celeron processors. Second question is what size hard drives show we have. There's not really in formal documents that the company publishes on Collector hardware other than an obscure document list Xeon class servers and even that has no disc sizing recommendations.
