During our LM Training | LIVE sessions, we received many questions, from alerting to dashboards to technical support. We’ve compiled the top-asked questions here for you.

Account and System Administration

Q: How do I update my account or business name?

A: Contact support to assist in changing your account details, such as updating to “EOS Electro Optical Systems.”

Q: How do I free up disk space on my system?

A: Diagnostic sources can help identify processes that are consuming disk space. An evaluation process for more effective disk management is recommended.

Q: How do I manage module updates?

A: To update your modules in LM Envision, use the following steps:

  • Navigate to Modules > My Module Toolbox > and select Update from the Status column for the module you want to update.
  • You will find a side-by-side viewer to compare your current module version to the updated version, along with a Preservations panel.
  • Select Final Review.
  • Select Save to install the update.

To learn more about preserving your modules and third data comparisons, visit the Module Management support documentation.

Logging and Alerts

Q: Is there a way to aggregate logs into my existing pipeline?

A: Yes, you can forward logs to your current pipeline for unified log aggregation and monitoring.

Check out this Log Pipeline support article for more information.

Q: How can I set up alerts based on specific LM Logs events?

A: Customizable alerts can notify you of events such as service stoppages. Specific rules are available to handle service events within LM Logs.

Find out more about Log Alert Conditions here.

Q: Can I receive alerts for absent logs?

A: Yes, alerts can be configured based on missing log activity, which may indicate application issues or failures.

Q: Is it possible to monitor SNMP Inform traps?

A: Currently, LM does not support SNMP Inform traps, but feedback has been submitted for future consideration.

User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)

Q: Why is the new UI (UIv4) slower compared to UIv3?

A: Performance improvements are in progress for UIv4 to address slower loading times and resource graphs. Feedback on user experience is continually collected to enhance speed and functionality.

Read more about these improvements in our New UI Mythbusters blog.

Q: Why is there wasted space on the dashboards in UIv4?

A: The layout and widget views are under review to improve space utilization. Adjustments to scrollbars and default settings are also being considered.

Q: How can I quickly access logs or alert details?

A: Drill-down capabilities allow you to view all relevant logs and alerts. Feature enhancements are planned to simplify navigation directly from alerts to associated logs.

Check out this Accessing Log Analysis support article to learn more.

Dashboards and Reporting

Q: Can I create and share dashboard templates?

A: Yes, templates can be set up to streamline dashboard creation and sharing. In the New UI, dashboard filters can also be shared across users to simplify team-wide.

To learn more, visit this Modern Dashboard support article or watch our Spring Feature Spotlight video.

Q: Is it possible to monitor NetFlow and report on HTTP traffic by protocol?

A: NetFlow monitoring is supported, with improvements to capture and report on HTTP traffic. Additional details and robust reporting options are being developed.

Q: How can I export and manage dashboard configurations in bulk?

A: Bulk export options are limited, though configuration groups can be created. Future updates aim to enhance selective import and export of dashboard elements.

Certification and Training
