For what it is worth, you're correct about the unclear wording; the credentials in question are the ones the collector process is using to run on its host operating system. It is not referring to the credentials used to access remote systems, though we'd suggest you don't use root there either.
Do you know if a DOC ticket got opened to correct the confusion?
