In general if you know something is going to be down, you would setup a Scheduled DownTime (SDT) ahead of time. Then the alert will still happen in the portal but you wouldn't get notified and/or have it generate a ticket. You can even filter out alerts in SDT from dashboards and reports if needed. You also have the option to just disable alerting for that one interface. That will completely clear the alert but you will need to remember to turn it back on, if you care about that interface in the future.
I guess you can also change the thresholds to use Delta operations of thresholds, to only alert on a status change itself. But these kinda alerts are easier to miss as they will only alert for a single poll, so you would want to make sure you get notifications on alerts.
If this is a switch, I would suggest only monitoring the "important" ports like to servers and uplinks, but not for user or printer ports.
