Azure Service Health Event Source Alert help

Has anyone out there come up with effective strategies for adding filters to the Azure Service Health event source to suppress alerts that are not relevant to your environment?    I'd like to figure out how to constrain alert generation to only those things that are relevant to us, whether that's inclusion, exclusion or match by service, location, keyword etc.  I'm struggling to get started.

Any ideas would be great and filter templates would be awesome.

Using today's on-going Azure issues as an example, the default event source trips hundreds of alerts (thankfully we don't route them to notification delivery), all with identical message text.  Since we haven't customized the event source, the resulting alerts also don't clear.
