VMware VSAN

Is there a plan to add the monitors/alerts for VSAN?

We have some vSAN LogicModules in the pipeline but we've been waiting to complete and release them until we after we release our update for the base VMware modules. There isn't currently a plan to pull the vCenter-defined alerts through directly. We'd prefer to pull the metrics out and define the alarms within LogicMonitor to avoid noise and allow configuration within the product.

That being said, if there's enough interest in just pulling VMware's alarms through we can look at that too.

    Hi Mike,

There are a number of alarms only visible/shown by the vCenter above & beyond the Alarms seen at the ESX host level. The ability to alert on these is greatly needed, however filtering of these alarms at one level or another to cut the noise is also vital, especially when dealing with multiple vCenter's.

vSAN monitoring yes please, we are seeing more and more of this.

Also VCSA - (vCenter appliance), with VMware 6/6.5 onwards we will only get these Linux based virtual appliances, we already have a significant number deployed, whilst the vCenter datasources are good for the 'vCenter' application there is a big hole in the monitoring capability for the underlying disk space & VM services - we can configure SNMP on these appliances and then use the Linux ds to see the disk space there is nothing for the services out of the box - we have also seen some potential performance/stress related issues with running SNMP on some of these appliances, so preferably any new DS should be using the New VCSA 6.5 API to look at and pull the various stats/status information.

    Thanks

    Nick

  • I would like the ability to have all of the VSAN out of the box alarms associated in vCenter

  • Hi,

I'm just wanting to resurrect this thread, as vSAN monitoring is something we would also much like to see, so a status update on the above mentioned development would be good?

    Thanks

  • Hi Guys,

    Agree with Jonny

It would appear there has been little or no uplift in ESXi/ VMware monitoring

vCenter health for example now very important in the vSAN world

  • Add another requestor to the VSAN monitoring please.
