please clear alert acknowledge when severity changes

I was surprised and embarrassed to fill a disk today.

I had a page when the disk grew to critical at 98%. I grew the disk

and it was just over the warn level at 85% when i did. The alert ack

did not clear though I expected it to when changing alert levels.

I understand an alert ack is cleared when an alert escalates from one

severity to another. That makes sense.

Not having the alert ack clear when I resolved the critical state was

unintuitive and caused data loss for me.

It would not be right to clear the ack as soon as the state drops from

critical to error.

I\'d like to see the state of the ack downgraded if the error level

drops from a higher state to a lower state. Then If I ack a critical

alert, and it goes back from critical to warn, I don\'t get a nasty

surprise when it goes back into error and critical a week later

without alerting.

There\'s no outward way to tell the difference in the Active Alerts page

between a normal ack for the alert on my warn-level disk full alarm that

will clear and page me if it goes to error vs. a super-ack that was

created when the thing was at critical and will not page ever.

  • Hi Ben,rn rnThank you for your feedback. There might be a possibility for having an Alert level de-escalated or Alert level escalated alert notification dispatched when the severity-level drops/raised, but Im afraid that this is currently not possible. But I have gone ahead and forwarded this request to our product team for you. :)rn rnJoseph Skup.rnLogicMonitor Support
