Monitoring using SNMP with port other than 161

We have a host that has two SNMP agents, one listening on 161, the other on another port. Is Lomo able to accommodate this?

  • Nope, sorry.rnYou can override the snmp port used per host (by setting the snmp.port property), but then all snmp traffic will use that port.

rnUsually, you can specify that one snmp daemon will forward trees for a specific OID tree to the other SNMP daemon.rne.g. something likern

    proxy -v 1 -c public 127.0.0.1:1610 .1.3.6.1.2.1
rnto forward queries for the 1.3.6.1.2.1 subtree to local port 1610, if you are running netsnmps snmpd as the daemon on port 161.rnAlternatively, youd have to add the host to logic monitor twice - one being monitored on port 161, and once being monitored on the custom port.rn rn
  • Thanks Steve. Your suggestion to add a second host so I can assign a custom snmp port to it looks to be a good workaround. Ill give that a try. Thanks again.
