Group and Global control of Service Test Locations

Since the addition of the Singapore test location, all of our alerts began going off. We intentionally block all of Asia at our firewalls due to inappropriate scraping and other activities coming from countries in that area. Due to there being no global or group level ability to disable a test location, I have been faced with disabling Singapore one service at a time. Having the ability to enable/disable new locations would allow you to add them as you create them and we, your customers, could then add the new location(s) on our own without causing our alerting to go crazy!

  • We are so sorry this happened and will consider a better way to introduce new service monitor locations in the future.

  • We are running into the same thing on our Logic Monitor instance. Lots of alerting and seems like the only way to resolve this is to disable that location one by one. Maybe even exposing a Services API, similar to the Host API would have made this a bit easier.

  • The way to do it is add features in a disabled state and invite customers to enable them if that is their pleasure. Any change that breaks what exists is time consuming and therefore expensive.
