Better Event ID Alerting/Monitoring

Hi,

This is kind of becoming a big problem for us now. We rely on monitoring Windows Events for a number of things, however most of the time do not need to see the full event, we just need LM to report how many events have occurred in the time period set.

For example, we have a custom event set-up to catch backup alerts, there might be 20 alerts that are sent to the Windows Event log for a single backup. We only really need to see the failed ones, not the completed ones.

What i would like to see would be a NOC style widget for backups that would allow you to add custom Windows Event Id\'s & event sources and keep a tally of them. For example

Backup Job Completed (this would produce a green tick, with a number next to it of associated events) ;-

Event Source : Veeam

Event Id: 123

Backup Job Failed (this would produce a red cross, with a number next to it of associated events):-

Event Source : Veeam

Event Id: 456

Ideally to make it really simple it would be nice to be able to right click on these events in the \'windows events\' under logic monitor and create the rules that way.

Please produce this LM, it would make our lives so much easier.....

Kris

  • Another example would be failed authorisation requests. We have a customer that just wants to see the amount of failed auth requests on their server. It would be impossible to log them with the current setup. Example:rnFailed login attempts : 436 (just counting the number of those events that have occurred in the last 24/48/xxx hours)

  • Kris,rnI wanted to let you know that this is not being ignored. At the moment, we dont have definite plans, but we will be re-evaluating our event alerting in early 2015.rnWe know it can be improved.rnThanks,rnMichael

  • I am also currently working on Veeam monitoring, recently just changed the current Veeam service to include all services for veeam.  RTN9EZ  now looking at adding additional services.
