During our recent LogicMonitor + Catchpoint AMA, the community came ready with many insightful and forward-thinking questions. To make it easy for everyone to revisit the details, we compiled every Catchpoint-related question asked during the session into this FAQ.

Q: What is Catchpoint, and what are its benefits?
A: Catchpoint is an internet performance monitoring company. Modern applications are complex and distributed across multiple services, APIs, and cloud providers. While NPM focuses on devices and APM focuses on code, Catchpoint monitors everything internet-related inside and outside the firewall. We have 3,000 nodes worldwide to monitor user experience from different locations, including 100+ nodes in China. We can monitor the experience of users connecting across the world through various networks and devices.

Q: Can you monitor Microsoft Foundry, the external layer for AI models?
A: Yes, we monitor MCPs, AI APIs, and can set up synthetic monitoring to check Foundry's responsiveness from different locations. We can validate AI outputs and monitor response times between clusters. We published a benchmark report for AI tools last year and are updating it to include newer platforms like Claude and Perplexity.

Q: How will Catchpoint tie into LogicMonitor? Will it be sold separately or included?
A: As of today, a version of Sonar is already showing global outages within the LM portal. The first major integration will be with Edwin AI, allowing Catchpoint to feed data to existing dashboards. Eventually, it will be one platform, but synthetic testing will have separate pricing. Cathpoint IPM is priced based on how many tests you want to run and from how many locations. Our teams are already working together to handle leads and requests. For now, it will be separate platforms, but we're looking at platform pricing packages and creating a more integrated approach moving forward.

Q: Will Catchpoint's visualizations be included in a default LM Envision dashboard that all customers can get?
A: Yes, this will happen soon. Sonar is already showing global outages in the LogicMonitor product. The StackMap visualization shows everything between the user and the code, including internal servers, databases, DNS servers, and third-party code. Another useful dashboard is the outages map, which monitors hundreds of different services in real-time. For example, when Cloudflare had an outage, Walmart received an alert from our Sonar system and was able to bypass Cloudflare within 3 minutes, minimizing downtime.

Q: How does Catchpoint compare to ThousandEyes?
A:
In the internet performance monitoring (IPM) category, there are only two companies: ThousandEyes and Catchpoint. The simplest way to explain the difference is "they have 1,000 eyes, we have 3,000 eyes." We have more coverage in more places, including last mile and wireless nodes which ThousandEyes doesn't have. We have our own BGP ASNs for real-time BGP data. We're now an independent company as part of LogicMonitor, whereas Cisco focuses ThousandEyes technology on monitoring Cisco devices. In the Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Monitoring, Catchpoint is a leader while Cisco is not. We have many powerful features like Stack Map and Heartbeat monitors that are unique.

Q: Can Catchpoint monitor full RDP login workflows using synthetic transactions without requiring agent-based tools?
A: Our synthetic transaction system is very flexible and scriptable with multiple authentication technologies. We also have an endpoint node that can be installed as an agent in browsers or laptops to correlate local data with user experience. I'm 80% confident we can support your RDP monitoring needs, but would recommend working with one of our solution engineers for a definitive answer.
