@Stuart Weenig, how does your experience differ from the video @Michael Raymond posted to this thread?
Right, the issue Michael tried to replicate was a side note and not the main point. It’s also not happening anymore to me. So it was either fixed, or i was imagining that behavior to begin with.
@Patrick Rouse the issue is, as with a lot in the new ui, what was a simple single click, is now a hover, wait, click. I just verified it in our main production portal. I cannot simply click on Resources. Now I have to hover over Resources, then move my mouse over to ‘Resource Tree’ vs just clicking on Resources.
This is the main issue. For over a decade, clicking on the “resources” icon in the side bar took me to the resources page. That no longer works. Now, as @Joe Williams mentioned, I have to hover, move, then click. Not only is this a deviation from the way LM has ingrained behavior, but it’s also a deviation from the way other options are added to the menu bar. When other options have been added (module toolbox for example), it’s just added as another button on the bar. Cramming the resource tree into the existing button isn’t that bad a deal, IF the original functionality were still there. The thing is: there’s nothing about this new design that prevents the old design from still working. Just put an <a> tag around the icon that still uses an href attribute to point to the resources page. If i cared enough to try the new resource explorer for some reason, i’d mouse over, move, then click. At least that way, LM isn’t breaking functionality that has existed for years (more than a decade).
The mapping is no longer there, but the signifier hasn’t been updated to indicate that. This screws up the conceptual model preventing me from taking advantage of the affordance. All of this adds up to less stickiness of the product and lowered rate of renewals, decreasing your ARR. If you don’t know what these terms mean, educate thyself.
