Ah, I figured it out: the alert is counted in both the critical bucket and the ack’d bucket if it’s a critical that has been ack’d. Presumably, if it’s been ack’d, is in SDT, and is critical, it would increment three of the pills. Definitely not what I would have expected. Not a good use of feedback:
There is full and continuous information about the results of actions and the current state of the product or service.
Luckily, hiding the ACK’d and SDT’d alerts results in a clear communication: you have x critical, y error, and z warning alerts that haven’t been addressed. I guess that’s good enough for my use case, so I’ll hide ACK and SDT counts. But, with them shown and them showing up in more than one bucket what is being communicated? “Look, you have 16 critical alerts and 121 ACK’d alerts. How many of those overlap? I won’t tell you until you click in and apply a couple different filters and count them yourself.”
There are no tooltips when you hover over those pills.
I guess I’m asking if there can be a toggle that lets alerts only count in bucket or the other. Mutually exclusive.
