Almost none of the existing feeds provide any value to me. The "most recent" feed is ok because it shows which posts have had recent activity. But I haven't figured out how to limit that to only those "categories"/"forums"/"hubs" that I'm interested in, omitting the ones I'm not interested in. Is there a way to make the "most recent" the default, at least for me? Is there a way to "follow" a category besides subscribing to email notifications? Once I've followed a category, is there a way to get a feed of just those items? Once I get a feed of just those items, is there a way to highlight which ones are unread by me? I do see the "1 unread" on some posts, but it's the same color as everything else and doesn't stick out very much. Optimum scenario would be the ability to filter the feed to show only unread threads and threads with unread replies.8Views0likes2Comments- 11Views0likes2Comments
The feed on the community feedback page is only "top content"
There needs to be an option for "most recent". I just made a post that I'd like to reply to, but i can't do it here because the post i just made is not considered "top content". "Most Recent" should be the default on all feeds on all pages.Solved36Views5likes2CommentsNew Features

How to use the Code Block feature when posting.
Using a code block instead of simply pasting text has several advantages, especially when you're sharing code or technical content. Using this instead of just pasting your code as text will improve readability, accessibility syntax highlighting, preserves whitespace, takes up less character space and makes it much easier to copy & paste code. Log In: Make sure you are logged in to your LM Community account. Create or Edit a Post: You can either create a new post or edit an existing one where you want to add a code block. Access the Text Editor Select the 3 dots … Select {;} Insert/Edit Code Sample A pop up box will appear, search for the Language you want to insert. I’m not opposed to post moderation. However, i don’t think LM should be the gateway for moderating posts on the community. I’d like to request that a community board be setup consisting of elected and LM approved community members. I’d like that board to: have the ability to moderate posts be part of conversations about strategic direction of the community, especially platform changes meet at least monthly, withLM employee attendance optional compile the top feature requests submitted through the community and meet with the corresponding product managers to understand the plans for implementation of those feature requests bring to the attention of LM the posts/questions that require their feedback Suggest, schedule, and host webinars presented by LMers or community members that would benefit the community Maintain a budget of sponsored funds from LM that can be used for community events including but not limited to board transportation, room, and board to LM events like LevelUp The above is a simple list specific to this community. A more detailed but generic list of duties would include: Strategic Planning: Develop and articulate the community's long-term vision and mission. Define strategic goals and objectives for the community. Governance: Establish and enforce community guidelines, code of conduct, and policies. Define membership criteria and processes. Ensure fair and transparent decision-making processes. Community Building: Foster a positive and inclusive community culture. Organize and promote community events, such as meetups, conferences, and hackathons. Encourage networking and collaboration among community members. Communication: Maintain regular communication channels, such as forums, mailing lists, or chat platforms. Facilitate discussions among community members. Provide updates on community projects, milestones, and achievements. Documentation: Encourage and facilitate the creation of high-quality documentation for community projects. Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible. Contributor Recognition: Establish a system for recognizing and rewarding contributors. Acknowledge and celebrate achievements and milestones within the community. Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes and conflicts within the community. Implement a fair and transparent process for handling disagreements. Resource Management: Manage financial resources for community projects. Allocate resources to support community initiatives and events. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as sponsors, partners, and user groups. Collaborate with other communities and organizations. Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and oversight for community projects. Ensure that projects align with the community's goals and standards. Security and Compliance: Establish and enforce security best practices. Ensure compliance with relevant legal and licensing requirements. Community Growth: Develop strategies to attract new contributors and users. Explore opportunities for expanding the community's reach and impact. Feedback Mechanisms: Establish mechanisms for collecting and acting upon feedback from the community. Regularly assess the effectiveness of community initiatives. Education and Training: Facilitate educational programs, workshops, and training sessions for community members. Support initiatives that enhance the skills and knowledge of contributors. Sustainability: Develop plans and strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of community projects. Identify and mitigate risks that may impact the community's stability.148Views10likes8Comments- 112Views17likes11Comments

For what it’s worth, it’s frustrating that I have a nice big monitor, but the community content will only ever take up less than half of the content. It’s a lot of wasted space, especially when some of the code blocks could really use the extra real estate to avoid wrapping lines. Wrapping lines in code makes the code harder to read.Solved35Views0likes1CommentUpdates to Community Platform

It might be good to add a legal footer on every page letting people know that any code or suggestions they find on the community might not be supported. Wouldn't want a non-account holding user to stumble upon some suggestion in the community, use it, and blow up their stuff or incur a bunch of charges. I know there's something for authenticated users, but there should be something on the footer of every page for those who decide not to ever sign up/log in.Solved69Views11likes5CommentsAdd Reply Preview to Account "Your replies" Page | Suggestion

Sometimes we need to paste in code output or text that shouldn’t be formatted the way normal text is formatted. We need either an “unformatted” language to choose from in the code widget, or we need a text option that is monospace (where every character takes up the same width so that indentation is rendered properly). For example, this log output looks like this in a code widget: Using the code widget and choosing “not set”, which I expected to have no color coding. This is not what it should look like. Interestingly, if I paste the same block of text here, it’s not color coded like it is in that post. This leads me to believe that all code blocks within the same post use the same language, even if the code widget is set to “not set”. >>> response = create_group("SDK Test",812,{"prop1":"1","prop2":"2"}) [2023-02-21 16:30:11] API SDK POST: Created resource group Customers/Longhorn Smokers/SDK Test (854) >>> response = create_group("SDK Test",812,{"prop1":"1","prop2":"2"}) [2023-02-21 16:33:06] SUMMARY: Customers/Longhorn Smokers/SDK Test already exists in LM with all the correct properties, moving on... >>> response = create_group("SDK Test",812,{"prop1":"1","prop2":"2"}) [2023-02-21 16:33:43] API SDK PATCH: Patched device group SDK Test >>> debug = True >>> info = True >>> response = create_group("SDK Test",812,{"prop1":"1","prop2":"2"}) [2023-02-21 16:35:57] DEBUG: Group SDK Test exists in LM (854), checking if attributes match... These are my thoughts after readingRanks, Roles & Badges. Ranks add value. They are a course indication of how engaged a member is with the community. I say course because there is no consideration of time. A more helpful metric would be posts/time, such as avg posts/day from the last year. Roles add value. They define the level of responsibility that the user has to the community. Badges have mixed value. The badges for “Special Groups” add value. They further define the user’s relationship to the community. The“Engagement Badges” have no value as they are not defined. The fact that these two badge types are co-mingled lessens the value of badges overall. The fact that no badges are described/defined nullifies any value of a badge. As someone seeking help, I might have valued the response provided by someone with a badge for “LM Academy Certified” over someone with a badge for authoring 100 posts. But without being able to identify which badges hold value, they all hold no value.87Views2likes10CommentsCouple of questions
When is community go live again? Also, in my profile it shows i have 23 DMs. But, i only see two: Know where the other 21 might be? I also tried to send the above in a DM, but it said i had more than 1000 characters. I’m guessing that’s because it counts each byte in the images as characters? That’s lame. At least have your error messages indicate the actual problem. if images aren’t allowed in DMs, just say that. I originally had tried to put bigger screenshots in, but now this thread tells me i’m limited to 50000 characters. I don’t have 50000 characters. I have a couple hundred and two really small screenshots. If we can’t post screenshots, that’s going to be a problem.30Views0likes6CommentsArchived Topics

Who can mark a response as the answer to a question
@A11ey , what are your plans for this? I’ve seen you do it, but I haven’t noticed yet if community members can. I would hope at least the OP would be the primary one marking the answer to a question since they’ll usually be the one most familiar with the problem and if the response actually answered the question. One policy I had previously was to give the OP a few days to mark something as the correct answer. If they didn’t I’d ping them. If they still didn’t then I would mark it. However, I have the technical chops to know if something is the right answer. I wouldn’t expect you to do that given your relative inexperience with the LM product.Solved20Views0likes1Comment- 36Views0likes2Comments
What's the distinction between groups and categories
Maybe I just don’t get it, but I don’t get the distinction between the two. One is a place to put certain posts and the other is a place to put certain posts. Maybe i’m too old school, but i miss the basic listing of all the places where posts could live. So far, the home page is unusable for me. All the navigation is too complex. So far, I’ve only been responding to email notifications. Anything on the home page that is remotely interesting is below the fold. Didn’t even realize it was there until later. Unless the home page and navigation get better, my interaction with the community will be less with the new system. On the old system, browsing was a lot easier and it would keep track of posts that i’d read and posts i hadn’t. So I was able to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I have no idea if i’m missing things.34Views1like7Comments- 17Views0likes1Comment
