Spanning tree/loop detection alerts

I’m looking to see if anyone has a way they are detecting network loops or generally using spanning tree information to alert that a loop has been detected. It would seem like something that would be built in but I can’t find anything. I’m mostly trying to catch end users that plug in things they shouldn’t

Seeing Failed To Parse ServiceNow Integration

We are sometimes seeing “-2” as the ##EXTERNALTICKETID## when sending alerts to ServiceNow. When this happens and the alert clears it is not auto-closing the ticket in SNOW. Has anyone seen this or have any idea how to fix this. Seems when there is an event where multiple alerts generate and send to SNOW at once this happens.

Pulling all certificates from internal CA

I am just asking the general question to see if anyone has accomplished this before I recreate the wheel for our environment. Let me start out with my scripting knowledge is very basic. So what i am trying to accomplish is to pull all certificates signed by our internal CA, that would be pull every day in case new ones are added. The certificates that are about to expire with 30 days, 2 weeks, 1 week would send out alerts to the corresponding escalation chain (once i find out who owns the certificate). Eventually we would have service now create a ticket for the expiring certificate and route to the correct team. The biggest issue is i have no idea what all certificates we have or where they live. I know you can use certutil to grab this data from our internal CA but just wanted to see if any one has already accomplished this or maybe someone figured out an easier way. I havent found anything in the community pointing towards what I'm trying to do, Sorry in advance if i completely miss

Managing credentials

I am currently onboarding and moving off another monitoring platform that wasn’t working for my organization. However, it did have a credential manager feature that was exceptionally useful. It would track SNMP strings and credentials across the platform and I could make changes to a set of credentials in the credential manager and have it carry those changes to all the appropriate devices. I could also run reports on which devices were using which strings or credentials. I know that LogicMonitor will allow for easy changes via inheritance, but my environment is made up of a variety of organizations and there frequently will be cases where the inheritance model does not work for us.

Excluding VMware VMs from instance discovery

When we add a vCenter into Logic Monitor, the VMs in it’s managed clusters are discovered as instances of underneath datasources applied to the vCenter, like:VMware VM StatusVMware VM SnapshotsVMware VM PerformanceSometimes there are VMs that we have no interest in monitoring, so we don’t want them to be picked up by these datasources.  At the moment, we’re manually adding an Instance Group, putting those VMs in the group and then disabling alerts, which is quite a manual process.Ideally we’d like LM to not discover VMs that have had a specific tag/value applied to them in vCenter.  I think we should be able to do this by modifying the Groovy script used for Active Discovery on these data sources, but I’m not sure how to go about that.Has anyone managed to do something similar?Dave

API Filtering

Capacity/performance reporting via a 3rd party data warehouse

Hi Community,I’m hoping someone can provide some guidance on the best method or REST endpoint to pull granular performance/consumption data from? I’m asking as we’re looking to bring metrics like CPU, memory usage, uptime & storage consumption into our data warehouse. The best LM V3 REST endpoint I can find so far is “/device/devices/{deviceId}/devicedatasources/{hdsId}/instances/{id}/data”.Thanks

Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN (formerly CloudGenix)

We have developed new Prisma SD-WAN modules that use the Unified SASE SD-WAN API to monitor ION performance, health, tunnels…  We’re looking for customers who already monitor their ION devices via SNMP that would be interested/willing to work with us to verify that that data we’re collecting via Palo Alto’s API matches what we get with SNMP.Two requirements:You are currently monitoring discrete ION devices via SNMP Your CloudGenix portal has been migrated to Prisma Cloud.If you meet these requirements and would like to be considered for pre-release environment verification, please DM me. This pre-release testing would involve LM running some Palo Alto Prisma Unified SASE SD-WAN API calls to compare the results against what we get from SNMP.  This does not involve/required adding modules to your portal.  However, after this environment verification, we’d be happy to work with you as an early adopter of the new modules.

Monitoring Intersight managed Cisco UCS (help)

We’ve been monitoring our Cisco UCS fabric interconnects and blade servers via the traditional “Cisco UCS Monitoring” that targets UCSM (UCS Manager) directly. We’re in the process of moving to Cisco Intersight (which replaces UCS Central). The Intersight modules are limited strictly to monitoring licensing, advisory alerts, and HyperFlex Clusters. This is leaving me unclear as to how we could go about achieving parity visibility in to our new Fabric Interconnects and blades since there is no UCS Manager API to target when using Intersight.Has anyone else successfully managed this yet (and if so what’s the trick)?

Event-driven ansible

Would like to know more about the architecture for this. I assume this would integrate with Ansible Tower/AWX? Is there another component involved? Do we need a lambda function to tie it all together?What about multi-tenancy? I will have some customers that we’ll use this with and some we won’t. Can we route this through alert rules to determine which alerts go to which Ansible Tower/AWX?

UIv4 - Managing Static Group Memberships - Huge UX Issue?

Hey y’all,I am entirely unable to intuit out how I can move resources into a static group in UIv4 -- The closest I’ve been able to get to documentation for this are:Resource Group Overview (New UI) | LogicMonitorChanging Resource Group Membership (New UI) | LogicMonitorThe last link seems to indicate controlling this on a per-Resource basis -- but I should be able to add multiples devices to a group from the group’s perspective from a usability perspective.Am I missing something completely obvious here? Mostly asking because this is the first real thing that’s severely underserved my intuition with UIv4 -- hoping this will also elevate visibility, as I tend to be really strong on intuition, and LogicMonitor has suited my intuition very well historically.

Can you compare and contrast Dexda's capabilities with PagerDuty's alert grouping feature

We currently send alerts to PagerDuty because it has really good ML based alert grouping. From there it goes on to our ticketing system. Looks like this might be able to replace that capability (which would simplify things greatly on our side).It seems like grouped alerts are called “episodes”. Will episodes have the ability to be routed similar to the way alerts are routed through alert rules? In PD, in order to train the ML engine that some alerts belong together, all we have to do is combine two “incidents” (what PD calls a Dexda episode). That not only groups all the alerts from both groups into one group, but it also trains the ML to do better next time. Moving resource from Linux SNMP to SSH monitoring datasources

HelloI have a group of Linux servers where SNMP monitoring stats only work intermittently, I think this is due to the UDP traffic being lost when there is heavy usage across the network, as the outages coincide with times when backup data is traversing the network.I have moved one of the servers to SSH monitoring which always works without interruption.The only issue I have is that the server now has some duplicated datasources, one for SNMP and another similar one for SSH. “CPU Cores” for example.How do I instruct the resource to ditch all the old SNMP datasources?

Making instance groups more useful

My environment relies heavily on monitoring different groups of instances. At this time, I’m not able to use these instance groups in alert rules or reporting and this has been a pain point for my team. I’ve also tried grouping the instances with the same monitoring needs into a service, but a service won’t accept the number of instances I need to keep together. I would love to see instance groups have more utility and be used in most of the same ways that resource groups are able to be used. Is this something that will be implemented any time soon?

Transition plan for Meraki

We’ve been monitoring Meraki for a while now. It looks like the documentation still talks about the current way of doing Meraki monitoring, where the devices end up as instances.Will new Meraki monitoring still use netscans to bring the devices in?Will the serial number be used to permanently uniquely identify the device? Will there be a controlled grouping structure like there are for cloud providers? Will there be a script/DataSource to build/update the group structure (thinking along the lines of my Device By Collector Auto Grouping DS)?

Compare activity from two separate days

Can we have functionality to compare current/recent performance against a “baseline” period? I really need to compare CPU ready over from around 100 hosts, before and after a change was made to reduce it. Comparing stats over a month is a waste of time as the spikes are averaged, looking at alert data is a chore as it needs to take account of the number alerts and the amount of time the alerts condition exists (and even that is misleading). The only way I can think of to properly compare the stats is to select a period to use as a baseline to compare the current stats with. As it stands that requires exporting performance stats to Excel (nightmare) and graphing from there (even worse). I might be able to find a way using the api but this feels like it should be baked in functionality.More than happy to take other suggestions but I am pretty sure this is the only way to go.
