I've been asked to re-implement some monitoring that we used to aggregate from MRTG data, and I'm immediately baffled because it looks like there's a built-in datasource to do what we need (at least it's named like it would do so) but I can't for the life of me figure out what it's actually doing. The 95th Percentile threshold over the course of a 30-day rolling period should move up and down much more slowly than these graphs do. Is the time period absurdly short by default, or are there multiple entirely different things called "95th percentile"? If the default behavior of this probe is either documented or exposed anywhere, that'd be helpful. If anyone can offer any color on why this behaves the way it does, that'd be positively stellar.
Example: I have one router connected to the network's other router with 2 links (interfaces, tunnels, etc). If one of the links goes down the normal alert rule to email me is fine. However, if BOTH links go down I want a page. Cluster alerts was close to what I needed but it seemed to only be able to be set for if ANY 2 links go down then do this, instead of if these 2 links go down. I care about the relation between 2 specific links on a device, not the other ports going to random servers and stuff happening to go down. (I have different alerts for those.) Has any one dealt with an issue similar to this and found a work around/solution? Maybe an eventsource (or something) would be able to check for if Alert A and Alert B exist at the same time?
Hi Can someone point me in the direction of some instructions on how to make API calls with V2 of the API? (Just with a basic example on how the auth is done now etc) I can find examples for V1 and have used that but can't find anything relevant to V2. https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/rest-api-developers-guide/overview/using-logicmonitors-rest-api Thanks
Hello, someone asked me to add this to our LM and sent me this article yet I'm not an ant so I can't see what those screenshots are showing. Can LM doc folks please update this articles pictures with a larger size or if you click on it to actually show what its trying to show. Article here: https://www.logicmonitor.com/blog/extend-net-snmp-how-to-teach-an-old-snmpd-new-tricks/
Hello, As the post title says, I'm trying to figure out how to NOT display anything in a certain widget that would return a 0. Specifically, we are using the VMwareSnapshots datasource to display a table of potential snapshots and their age. Currently, the table just displays the list of VMs in the datasource regardless of them having a snapshot or not. The expression being used to display snapshots is (Age)/24. Is there anyway to adjust the expression to display snapshots that return a value greater than 0? Ideally I would want to just see the snapshots widget title bar with nothing below it if there aren't any snapshots to report, or no widget at all Thanks for you time, Mike
Are any of you capturing installed programs on your Windows servers and if so how? I've been asked to look at a way to get this information but don't want to query win32_product. I also can't use Powershell due to our collector configurations and the various clients we have on them(The prerequisites to get powershell working cross domain with trusted hosts etc. is just not feasible)
On Windows hosts, the system.model property is populated and allows me to see if a resource is physical or virtual and this allows me to apply queries accordingly e.g. all virtual machines, all VMWare v Hyper-V etc. How do i get the same on a Linux resource? We currently collect data via SNMP from our Linux resources. Is there an OID i can look for or something similar? tia
Hello, I have a script I run against multiple resources (virtual servers and servers), but that script can take multiple payloads to monitor different things against the same resource. I created a datasource with the script, but when I apply it to a resource, I'm unable to use different payloads as the custom property I create for that resource only has one value. Is there a different way to approach this problem that would allow me to run this script against a resource with different payloads? Or do I need to create a datasource for each payload and assign specific property name/values for each instance?
I'd like to create an alert when the sum of a datasource from two different instances goes above a certain value. Is there any way to do this? I have it displayed this way in a widget already, but no option for using that to trigger an alert. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Jason
Are there any alert attributes (in the get alerts API) present that can help in fetching both the new and modified alerts (alerts with change in severity, alerts that got cleared etc). within a time interval. Basically we want to know how does LM notify if any alerts have been updated.
Hello, I would like to know if anyone has configured monitoring and alerting of vmotion. I was looking at a straight forward configuration. Support could not provide anything as LM out the box does not monitor at that level. I have a vmcluster which the VM's keep failing over the VM guests to one host about once or twice a week. I am not able to find the cause and thought LM monitoring and alerting would help. any and all help appreciated.
We're trying to setup an alert from a SNMP trap. The alert will send SMS and Voice Call. You can imagine how it sounds to get a voice call with all the unformatted output below. The ##VALUE## of the output is as follows: 188.8.131.52.4.1.1214.1.10: Schedule 184.108.40.206.4.1.1214.1.11: sysops 220.127.116.11.4.1.1214.1.12: ENAW-TID 18.104.22.168.4.1.1214.1.13: ENAW-ETL03P 22.214.171.124.4.1.1214.1.3: 1 126.96.36.199.4.1.1214.1.4: 1 188.8.131.52.4.1.1214.1.5: Critical Alert 04-01-2021 ETL03p SNMP TEST Job #2 The system cannot find the path specified. 184.108.40.206.4.1.1214.1.6: 2195603 220.127.116.11.4.1.1214.1.7: ETL03p SNMP TEST Job #2 18.104.22.168.4.1.1214.1.8: 11 22.214.171.124.4.1.1214.1.9: 3 enterpriseOid: 126.96.36.199.4.1.1214 generalCode: 6 snmpVersion: v1 specificCode: 1 sysUpTime: 1511109 trapVariableBindingCount: 11 Would there be a way to format the ##VALUE## or use a different token so that the alert only shows information under trap OID 188.8.131.52.4.1.1214.1.5? So the value would look more like "Critical Alert 04-01-2021 ETL
Hello, I am curious if there is a way that I would be able to have an device only alert during specific times of the day. Additionally I was wondering if there was a way that we could monitor a device group but NOT have the alerts generated appear within the default Alerts Pannel. Thanks in Advance!
Hi All, first post on the forums. I'm trying to setup some monitoring of our MSSQL replication to try and keep a track and see when it fails or issues crop up. I've tried to create a data source but am not 100% sure what i'm doing in the groovy space. I've grabbed a script that does a SQL query as a base, but i need to run a procedure (sp_replmonitorhelppublication) instead. For active discovery i'm not getting any instances. What i have is below and would be great if anyone could poing me into the right direction as to where i've gone wrong? In this case, mssl.MSSQLSERVER.replication_url looks like jdbc:sqlserver://server_name:1433;databasename=distribution;integratedSecurity=false;applicationIntent=ReadOnly (mainly because i didn't know how to specify the database in groovy) import groovy.sql.Sql // Get basic info def hostname = hostProps.get("system.hostname") def sqlInstances = hostProps.get("mssl.MSSQLSERVER.replication_url") ?: hostProps.get("auto.sql_ser
I am running a powershell script to get the CPU utilization of each process and it is showing when running test script as attached to this question. To store it in device it is showing as percentage of CPU and not application name. How to store as application name ? Can someone help on how to save each application CPU utilization in Logicmonitor as every time some application may be having utilization and some may not ?
