Overview The March AMER East User Group brought together network engineers, system administrators, and IT leaders for a highly tactical session focused on one mission: eliminating tool sprawl and operational noise . From API-driven dashboard customization to AI-powered alert deduplication, the conversation centered on how teams are building a true single pane of glass within LogicMonitor. Attendees walked away with practical examples of consolidating Cisco Catalyst Center, ISE, ServiceNow, and other platforms into unified, role-based dashboards that reduce context switching and improve time to resolution. A featured community presentation demonstrated how combining out-of-the-box monitoring with targeted API integrations enables teams to surface the metrics that actually matter, from P1 and P2 issue tracking to license utilization and endpoint visibility. Key Highlights API Driven Dashboards : Leveraged developer toolkits and APIs to pull data from Catalyst Center, ServiceNow, and other platforms directly into LogicMonitor widgets. Custom KPI Tracking : Built custom P1 and P2 issue metrics to trend incident severity and operational impact over time. ISE Optimization : Used mostly out of the box monitoring, with targeted customization for license usage and total endpoint visibility. ServiceNow Visibility : Created ticket volume dashboards by filtering ServiceNow tables and translating API outputs into LogicMonitor visualizations. 86 to 88% Noise Reduction : Achieved immediate alert deduplication improvements using Edwin, significantly reducing operational fatigue. Sandbox First Testing : Validated custom scripts and module updates in a lab environment before production deployment to maintain stability. Q&A Q: How much of this is out of box vs. custom module/API work for Cisco ISE? A: “A lot of the metrics that came in were out of the box. I would say the only two things that I made custom were the license status and I believe the total endpoints.” Q: How do you typically provision Resources (Devices) in LM? For example, NetScans? LM API calls? Do you have an external “source of truth” for your inventory that feeds LM provisioning? A: “Right now, we’re working on possibly getting ServiceNow CMDB set up for inventory. As it goes for NetScans, we don’t really rely heavily on NetScans… we relied just on manually adding those IPs rather than relying on NetScans.” Q: For ServiceNow integration, alerts are sent to ServiceNow. What are you doing to get ticket-related data into LM Envision? Any specific api call? Any ServiceNow module requirement to get that ticket data? A: We had to access ServiceNow, make these API calls that filter specific tables. Then, we get an overview of the tickets created in ServiceNow, first by making the API call for that particular graph and then translating it to LogicMonitor. Q: I’m curious, do you have a process for the team to assess whether the custom module needs to be updated following LogicMonitor or vendor platform updates? A: “For the most part, there is no workflow for that. LogicMonitor updates them as they come through. For ones that include more altering the script, I normally give that a few runs in our sandbox environment to test in our lab beforehand.” Customer Call-outs ⭐ “Nice job, Devon. I got a lot out of your usage to take back to my teams!” ⭐ “Right out of the box, we saw an 86 to 88% reduction in alert noise. That almost made it worth the initial purchase [of Edwin AI] by itself.” What’s Next 🎿 LogicMonitor Ski School March 9 – April 5 Our 4-week digital enablement program is designed to accelerate adoption and build confidence with AI-powered observability.
