This month, the LM Community hosted its first IPM-focused Product Power Hour, zooming in on a problem every ops and network team knows too well: when users complain, you lose time proving whether it’s the app, the network, or the Internet between them. The session walked through how Catchpoint’s Internet Performance Monitoring extends visibility beyond your infrastructure to the full delivery path, helping teams cut down blind spots, reduce MTTR, and protect brand and revenue.

🌟What IPM is (and why traditional monitoring misses it): IPM shifts from “are systems up?” to “can users actually reach and use the app?” by validating the external delivery path across networks, DNS, CDNs, SaaS, APIs, and third parties.

🌟Massive global visibility, plus private coverage: Catchpoint provides 3,000+ intelligent agents across ISPs and regions, and also supports enterprise agents you can deploy in your own environment.

🌟Connectivity deep dives with traceroute and Smartboard: The demo showed how teams can pinpoint packet loss, jitter, and latency hop-by-hop, filter by ISP/region, and share investigation views externally with a link.

🌟Transaction monitoring with Playwright and browser tests: Beyond “is the page up,” the session demonstrated scripted user journeys (login, search, purchase flow) and how waterfalls and filmstrips expose where the time and failures actually happen, including third-party services.

🌟Workforce productivity and endpoint visibility: Endpoint agents for Windows and macOS were highlighted for correlating device health like CPU/memory/processes, user connectivity, and SaaS performance, including video call quality.

🌟Catchpoint + LogicMonitor direction: Today, Catchpoint operates as a separate portal, with integrations available via APIs/webhooks and roadmap timing called out for upcoming announcements.

Q&A

Q: How does Catchpoint distinguish between a foreign threat and someone in the organization who may be acting maliciously?
A: “So these agents are purpose built to proactively monitor your applications or your networks from these dedicated connections. They don’t get flagged as foreign threats or anything like that. This is more set to proactively emulate the end user experience as they try to reach that application or network.”

Q: Do you have the ability to monitor performance from behind the China firewall?
A: “So we do have a rather large presence in Mainland China and connections to the three core providers within that country. For example, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom. We also have AliCloud regions from within China as well.”

Q: Can customers create custom synthetic tests?
A: “We do have a dedicated API monitor that leverages JavaScript where you can run through different transactions and examine multiple URLs. You can take content from one payload and use it in the next.”

Q: Is Catchpoint a completely separate product from the LogicMonitor platform, and how will licensing be handled for partners?
A: The answer is yes, but it is currently in transition as integrations, pricing updates, and a combined MSA are being worked on. Solutions are already being provided with partners, so customers should coordinate with their account teams.

Q: When you send a shared view, is it simply a screenshot, or does the recipient have some limited access to investigate the data?
A: “A user can leverage that to actually investigate without having access to the Catchpoint platform. That’s helpful if you want to share insights with a partner or third-party provider and allow them to explore the data.”

Q: If multiple customers are hosted on the same backend infrastructure, can customized or filtered Catchpoint dashboards be provided to each client without exposing other customers’ data?
A: “Yes. You can give access to specific users for a specific product or set of tests. You also have the ability to create different stack maps for different application infrastructures.”

Q: Do you maintain relationships with providers so that if we open a support case and reference Catchpoint data, the provider will consider it credible?
A: “Yes. More often than not, those providers are also leveraging Catchpoint. Getting everyone on the same page and looking at the same set of data is extremely powerful.”
