Reporting Improvements
I've been waiting for improvements to the reports section of LM for about two years now. Everytime I have asked about it, I've been told there's stuff coming but only after a bunch of other things get done first.
I need to be able to design a report and have it sent with the information I need in it attached in a file. The capabilities in the current report templates are lacking and I don't understand why the graphs don't look like the ones on the dashboards. I can't even control what order the data is listed in.
I've had several folks look at reports with me and they were very capable people and we just couldn't get the reports to do what I wanted.
Other than making UIv4 permanent, are there any actual improvements coming to the reporting section?

OP1 year agoJust an update for anyone else that's curious. I spoke with a couple folks for about half an hour about this and they didn't have any other information than what was stated here. Also no ETA for this new "metrics" report. I'm not sure what good a call like that is supposed to do, it just ate up my time rehashing old information

OP1 year agoI've already been through hands on troubleshooting a couple times and the product just does not do what I'm wanting it to do for reports. I want to know if reports are ever getting more functionality or improvements. If there's an ETA for anything coming that would be helpful too.

·1 year agoI've heard the same thing and learned that you can't rely on LogicMonitor's "upcoming" enhancements. The reporting, for us, has very limited functionality. I feel your pain.

Admin1 year agoHey there! We do, I am getting a product leader to provide more detailed insight. Have you met with anyone here at LM to assist? I am happy to coordinate

·1 year agoHi pgordon -- We have a few smaller improvements coming soon: the ability to see historical SDT in alerts reports, and a new "month to date" option for reports, as well as a few bigger improvements planned for reporting later this year. Specifically we are aiming to allow more flexibility in reports through a new report type for metric reporting, and more usability by providing more insight into execution status. Happy to get on a call and go through more details - there is a lot going into that new metrics report type & we'd love your feedback. Just for some additional context, last year much of the improvement on the alerting side was on the backend, to make it easier & faster for us to support new report types, so it may not have been quite as visible but hopefully will speed up the improvements we are making this year.

OP1 year agoThank you for this information.
My issues specifically had a lot to do with having a hard time selecting and using instance level data and properties as well as the formatting of the final report.
I need to be able to report on data for specific network interfaces from a set of devices and this is currently difficult to do. I don't have any control over the order the data is listed in the report, the technicians looking at this with me concluded that this was not possible at the time of troubleshooting.
I can't use instance groups to build the report either.
I'd also really love to see the charts in the reports look more like the ones from the dashboards. As much as I didn't like Solarwinds, their report builder is extremely flexible and customizeable and that was nice.
If someone wants to reach out to me to set up a time for looking at these upcoming features I'm open to it.
