Logic Monitor Collector Installation- Prompt for proxy address and port
I was trying to install Collector on the customer server and received message asking for proxy address and port. I don't have networking expertise so it's kind of confusing. How do I get this information? Collector is installed but not communicating with Logic Monitor so I can't edit proxy settings there.
Also, the server has a carbon black error but it was disabled during the collector installation.
How would I whitelist the proxy address to Logic Monitor datacenter so carbon black error wouldn't interrupt with anything. Where do I get the proxy address?

OP2 years agoI am not using proxy server. I checked everything and the requirements are met. I am guessing carbon black error is an issue and I need to whitelist access to Logic Monitor portal as a next step.

·2 years agoProxy Server is referring to a possible system or server(s) that provides you with access to the web. It would be something your company would be running within your environment and nothing at LogicMonitor. It's pretty rare these days and if you are not already aware of one, you are likely not using one.
I would guess the Collector asked for it because it wasn't able to reach the LogicMonitor portal. You should make sure that the server you have the collector on is able to reach your LogicMonitor portal at https://yourportal.logicmonitor.com in a browser. Also make sure that server meets the requirements per https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/collectors/collector-installation/installing-collectors#requirements-for-collector-servers
Also see https://www.logicmonitor.com/blog/my-collector-is-down-troubleshoot-in-6-steps
If you need to whitelist access to the LogicMonitor Portal, the details are at https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/about-logicmonitor/overview/logicmonitor-public-ip-addresses-dns-names
If you need more specific help or someone to look at your portal, I would suggest reaching out to LM support.

·2 years agoAgreed! I'll submit a ticket for that.
Right now, this info is all kinda displaced across a few pages:
https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/collectors/collector-installation/installing-collectors#requirements-for-collector-servers
https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/collectors/collector-overview/about-the-logicmonitor-collector
https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/collectors/collector-configurations/configuring-your-collector-for-use-with-http-proxies
A more concise mention in the install doc would be best for sure.
