NOC Widgets - Support for LM Logs alerts
Summary: Matt Whitney, Matt Whitney, raised a concern regarding the NOC Widgets' inability to show alerts from LM Logs. According to Matt, a device with an active log-based alert will appear as if it’s in a normal, green status on the NOC Widget, which he believes is a design flaw. Matt argues that NOC Widgets should reflect the alerting status regardless of whether the alert originates from datasources, LM Logs, or other methods. LM Support has confirmed that this is the current behavior and suggested submitting a feature request to address the issue.
NOC Widgets currently do not support alerts from LM Logs. So if a device has an alert active for a log-based alert, it will NOT show as being in an alerting status according to the NOC Widget. It will still show as green.
This is bad design in my opinion, NOC Widgets should show the alerting status for a device. Whether the alert is from datasources, LM Logs, or any other method should not make a difference.
LM Support confirmed this is currently expected behavior, and a feature request would be required to fix NOC Widgets.
