Native SQL Server Certificate on Port 1433 Monitoring
We respectfully propose an enhancement to the existing LM SSL Certificate Monitoring functionality to incorporate support for monitoring SQL Server SSL/TLS certificates, specifically for SQL Server services operating on port 1433.
At present, the standard SSL certificate monitoring capability does not extend to retrieving and monitoring the SSL certificate associated with SQL Server on port 1433. Consequently, this necessitates that customers develop and sustain a custom DataSource as an interim solution.
Proposed enhancement:
Introduction of native support for SSL/TLS certificate monitoring on SQL Server port 1433.
Implementation of automatic discovery of the certificate presented by the SQL Server endpoint.
Capability to monitor certificate expiration dates, overall validity, and the remaining days to expiration.
Provision of alert generation based on configurable expiration thresholds.
Support for monitoring across multiple SQL Server instances/endpoints.
Incorporating this functionality into the standard SSL Certificate Monitoring solution would obviate the necessity for custom DataSources and provide consistent visibility and alerting pertaining to certificates within SQL Server environments.
