Monitoring of custom Services
i know that the services monitoring is in beta to be able to test websites and see if all is ok.
We currently use a service called mxtoolbox which allows you to test specific ports and monitor the response you get back, all the tests are done from the mxtoolbox data center so is perfect for testing things like your smtp gateway is answering to port 25 and will accept email.
we have we is mxtoolbox checks it can access wanip:25 and then checks that it gets server.domain.com on the welcome banner, this then tells us that our smtp gateway is functional from outside our office.

·12 years agoIve logged a request for this as well, being able to test SMTP or any port from out on the internet would be handy. For http site testing there is a iMacro tool which allows you to record some steps as a macro (e.g open page, click link, log in, click another link etc) and then get a automated test tool to record the time for each step, would be great if LM could integrate something like this.
